    I am sorry to disturb you, but I was wondering if you have any information on Raymond P Timperley, who lived in San Francisco in the 1980's and probably early 1990's and was probably born in 1900? Anything you have on him or his descendants, or ancestors, would be very helpful. Thanks Alex AlexArmst(at)aol.com

    As a resident of Timperley, Cheshire, UK I have been doing some background searching on the house that I am about to buy, and I noticed on your Timperley 'related families' page that the name Brookes is blank. Brookes Drive (which I assume is named after Samuel Brookes) runs at the end of my garden, and is a footpath through Timperley to Brooklands (also named after Brookes ?). The information I have on the Brookes family is as follows... In August 1859 Samuel Brookes (a banker in Manchester) received a portion of land (for reasons I haven't yet discovered) in Timperley. After his death in 1864 the land was passed to William Cunliffe Brookes who I beleive later became a member of parliament. There are several other references to John Brookes and Thomas Brookes who I believe are Grandsons of Samuel Brookes but this is unclear. The last refence I have is when Thomas Brookes beqeathed a house (the one I'm buying) on to William Kirkmann in 1898. If you ever want to follow the Brookes name,  I hope that helps. Otherwise - great site ! I can't believe how much information there is about a tiny village where I live. Good work ! Paul Davies Janette(at)jandp.fsnet.co.uk

    My name is Adam Massey. Recently, I have been attempting to get closer to my heritage. I have been passively searching for my family's coat of arms. I found what I believe might be it at your website...derived from the Timperley coat of arms? I have always known to be, as well as found info. stating that my roots are definitely English. Even more, much info. leading to Cheshire. If that is my coat of arms, is there a way you could e-mail a higher quality image of it that I can reproduce? Also, do you know much of the Massey history in Cheshire? It would be most appreciated. Adam Massey adam_massey(at)eudoramail.com or adam(at)newgeo.com

    Thank you for your e-mail, received 17 January, concerning the parish records for Blackley, Lancashire. As Diocesan Record Office for the Diocese of Manchester, we hold the following records for St Peter's, the main parish church in the area, as follows: Baptisms 1655-1907 Marriages 1668-1709, 1718-1752, 1838-1895 Burials 1655-1892 Most of these are available on microfilm, and can therefore be viewed whenever the Library is open (Mon-Thurs 10.00-8.00, Fri-Sat 10.00-5.00). Most other sources for family history are similarly on microfilm or fiche, including other parish registers and the registers for Manchester Collegiate Church (now the Cathedral). Many marriages took place here even when the families lived in different parishes, so they often prove useful to genealogists.   Unfortunately, due to pressures on staff time, we are only able to undertake very limited and specific searches on behalf of postal enquiries. However, if you are unable to visit the Library in person, a list of local record agents who can do this type of work for a fee is available at http://www.gmcro.co.uk/agents.htm   (or I could send you a hard copy to your snail mail address). I hope this information proves useful to you. I'm emailing you in the hope that you can help me, my GGM married WILLIAM TIMPERLEY in around 1910ish and had a daughter DAISY TIMPERLEY and DAISY lived in the village Timperley (I guess it's possible that she is still alive). I am not sure about my GGM name but she did have a child before she married WILLIAM. The child, HILDA BRACEGIRDLE, is my GM. I do know that they did live in Altrincham, Cheshire and WILLIAM possibly later died of war injuries after WW1. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I have been researching the Timperley Family History for 4 years now, and i was very interested when i discovered your website the other day. When i visited your messages and comments page i noticed from the (14 sept 1998) a Peter Timperley originally from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Could this be the same Peter Timperley, who is on the Family Tree Chart which i have been putting togeather, (i think so.!). Fathers name-GEORGE-HUBERT.b.1st Oct 1909, Grandfathers name-GEORGE-ARTHUR.b.4th Oct 1875.England. If any more of this info is of interest to PETER, any other Timperley who thinks they are connected to the above mentioned please contact me and i will try and assist with your search as much as i possibly can. My research on the TIMPERLEYS dates from .c.1782. to c.1999. Mainly in England but some in Canada, from the early 1900's. Mark Matthews [markmath(at)lineone.net]

    In 1996 we published a book 'Heroes Galore' by Mr Richard Timperley, a well researched autobiography and family history by a very fine gentleman . Some details of the book may be found on the backlist of our web site http://www.copyright.net.au   Richard and his delightful wife Hazel now live in retirement at 183 Karawatha Drive, Buderim, Queensland, Australia 4556. He is not in good health, and has no Internet access. I am sending him some of your downloaded web pages. If you have not previously made contact, I am sure he would love to hear from you.     My ggrandmother, Leuseba Timperley Reynolds [correct spelling] died in KC, MO in 1943. She had her first step child in 1900. My Granny said, family didn't come to visit except Leuseba's sister, Abbey a couple times. They lived in Hammond, IN in 1902, in Essingham, IL and owned a restaurant in Stewardson, IL [they were there in 1929]. A Wilford Timperley also had a restaurant in Stewardson. Leuseba had money. Have you heard of any other Timperley's with the name Leuseba? Nobody seems to know anything about it's itiology. I am the only one in my family with Friedreich's Ataxia, an inherrited disease caused by a recessive gene. Both my parents carried the gene, but I haven't found anyone who actually had it, besides me. That was the Initial reason for the search. Have you heard of any Timperley's with it? Dr. Susan L.     One interesting comment I have seen in a copy of the History of Norfolk, by Blomefield, page 474 (I am not sure which of the nine volumes is the one covering the area of Colkirk from which this page was taken, but I can soon get it if it becomes necessary) is as follows;

    "The Timperleys descend from Thomas Timperley, Esq. of Bowdon, in Cheshire, who removed thence into Suffolk in the reign of Henry V1, and had son John his son and heir, who married Margaret, daughter and heir of Roydon, and is buried in the chancel of Hintlesham church in Suffolk, under a blue marble stone, with his potraiture and that of his wife, on a brass plate, with an inscription setting forth that he was heir and Lord of Hyntlesham, and died in 1460: he was the father of John and Nicholas (buried at Buxhall). John married a daughter of -----------Tydd of Weston, and left a daughter and heir, Elizabeth, wife of Firmin Rookwood of Weston, in Norfolk.

    I'd better stop here I think before it all becomes too conflicting with other accounts, including Copinger's Manors of Suffolk, who says John Timperley was the son of Thomas Timperley of Cheshire, and Mary Wentworth. John's father John had removed from Cheshire to Hintlesham, and was buried there in 1460. I am at present waiting for a response from Essex about a coat of arms which seems to answer to a Timperley coat, which I have come across in a Wentworth file, although it has been described as being "unidentified" in a Wentworth textbook. ( I apologise if I have mentioned this before, but the outcome could be interesting to say the least. Kenneth Baker kenvin.baker(at)virgin.net
