Just three things are needed to build a page for a family. 1) A Page TitleThe page title consists of the family's name and an appropriate town/city, county, country to be used to help distinguish the family from others already on the page. The geographic location is usually one of the following, according to the preference of the submitter: The location of the individual or family who is submitting the genealogy, the location of the origin of the family or the location where the largest collection of this family currently lives. 2) Your Name and AddressName and postal address of the applicant and email address (if any). Please indicate if you would like your postal address, email address or both to be included on your family page. This information is so other families may contact you if they think they may have a relative in common or would like more information about your family. (The web master will always forward requests for information directly to the family in question). 3) Your Family TreePlease provide as much of the following information as you can. Full name, date of birth, death, baptism/christening/etc., marriage and the location where those events occurred or where the records are held (if any) and relationship within the family for each individual in the genealogy. You can submit this in prose or by drawing a text tree as is done on the web site. Don't worry if you don't have "all of the information". Everyone's tree is a work in progress. Submit as much as you can now. You can always submit updates later. How to Submit your Family TreeThe remaining three items are optional but help to create a most interesting page. Family HistoryCheck out some of the pages to see how this is done. Not all families have submitted a family history but several have. Pictures and GraphicsPictures and graphics can be submitted in any of the following formats TIF, TGA, JPG, GIF, PCX, PCD or BMP or you can always send a photo or graphic by post mail and the web master will scan it in for you. Both a thumbnail sketch and a full size picture will be created from your original(s), to place on your page. Graphic files are most easily transferred that have the following characteristics: 256 colors or 8 bit gray scale. 72 dots per inch, 500x700 pixels or smaller. If you need more information on how to send a graphic by email contact the web master. Your ideasRemember, this will be your family's page. You can have anything on your page, that you would like to put on the page, within reason of course. If you provide appropriate text in a language other than English, it will be posted as soon as an independent translation can be obtained. If you know HTML you can create your own page and email it or if you have your own web site, just provide the link and a title and it will be added to this site! What's the catch? There is none. I'm not selling anything. Your web page is completely free of charge. By providing your family tree, you are helping the many Timperleys who are researching their own family tree. If you contribute and for any reason no longer wish to have a web page, you may have your page removed at any time. Please see the Policy of the Timperley Family Web site for more information. Looking forward to having another Timperley on the Web! |
