Abstract of will of Sir John Timperley

My wife Mary (executrix). My daughter Elisabeth. 'To Robert Bagishai my servant 10s. [cf. below] Rose Colbrond my servant. Agnes daughter my servant. My brother Thomas Tey esq. (supervisor of the will); Sir Henry Tey my wife's father.

'I will that all my feoffees of and in the site of my manor of Hyntlisham within the county aforesaid, of all the houses and buildings within the site of the said manor set, lying or being, and of and in certain meases, lands and tenements lying in Hyntlisham aforesaid called Makelles, the Hill Place, Shrybbelondes, Wardes, and other lands and tenements in Hyntlisham aforersaid to the yearly value of £40 over and above all charges,immediately after my decease stand and be seised of the same to the use of the said Mary my wife for term of her life without impeachment of waste . . ..' [recites marriage settlement of 26 Sept. 1509]. Mentions indentures of 16 August. 1518 between Sir John Timperley and William Timperley esq. (terms not mentioned), apparently concerning Hintlesham. My teneme ent called Pykes in Haddeley, to Elizabeth in tail, remainder to William Timperley in tail male, remainder to wife and her heirs in fee simple. My two tenements in Hyntlisham called Bardes and Valentyns, settles likewise.

'Item 1 give and bequeath to my said servant Robert Bagsha my two tenements with their appurtenances, wherof the one is called Legres in Hyntlisham and the other is called Burstall in the farm of Jeffrey, to have and to hold to him and to his hers and assigns for ever.'

All lands, meadows and pastures in Hyntlisham which I lately purchased from Humphrey Wyngefeld esq. to be sold, and the money paid to Elizabeth.

My tenemrnts in Hyntlisham now in the farm of John Collyn to my said nephew William Timperley.

The profits of my land called Cranys in Hyntisham to find and maintain a lamp in Hyntlisham church, burning before sacrament the according to the terms of Sir John my father.

Proved at Hoxne 8 Jan.1521 [i.e.. 1522 new stile]. Because the executrix is feeble (debilitate affecta), the administration is commiied to Thomas White, prior of St. Trinity, Ipswich, and r Robert Brougham.
