Some archival material surfaced at Durham University Library including
another Timperley with an 'i' sighting, this time in
Durham Cathedral Muniments / seal registers for a Leonard Timperley 1574.
Leonard is probably somehow related to Adam Timperley, and subsequently
Thomas Timperley buried Darlington 1732/3; possibly Yorkshire roots.

Also of interest are possible 'confirming' records linking Joseph Temperley
to a W B Beaumont transaction in 1867. We have original signatures on some
other docs for Joseph.

This is well timed as there are several searches going for a William and a
Joseph:

Previous Administrative records at Kibblesworth - Land Taxes circa 1826 show
first a William signing as tenant of Wm Greenwell for Colliery and Land, and
then as representative.  Wm T. was subsequently succeeded by Joseph
Temperley, this in years following 1826.  It is undetermined whether or not
he died, as a William Temperley shows up on electoral registers at Chopwell
in 1832. (Of note, these documents have original signatures). The William
Temperley signing consent for his daughter at the British Consulate in Paris
(a guess: acting as agent to owners of Durham mine(s) living in France,
several French owners listed in various archival Durham mining records) in
1824 was confirmed via the age of daughter Isabel, just shy of 20 born St.
Nicholas, Newcastle to William and Ann (Cuthbert) Temperley 1804.  The 20
year old bride in Paris was from the St. John District of Newcastle, the next
bride in 1826 Ann, a widow was from Lamesley.  Checking the Lamesley parish
registers renders the family of Joseph Temperley and Catherine Mountain, who
were married 1825 Tynemouth, four children at Lamesley.  Just to the North,
Isabel Elliott giving birth to Temperley Elliott in Ryton; Isabel presumably
a descendant of George of Catton.  A marriage also for William Temperley of
Winlaton and Eliz Stoker.

Oddly enough, William Temperley and Joseph Temperley may not be lineal
descendants.  This particular Joseph seems to come out of nowhere.

Alec seems to think the Greenwell connection might be to Kibblesworth
Colliery, although there was a link to Consett later on with Joseph acting as
agent.

It's not known the origin of Joseph of the land tax form, and there is
potential here for some non-conformist affiliation, maybe Congregationalist.
Guessing, any marriage at Medomsley might be a link, or possibly Cold Rowley
Baptist.
